On March 5, the Portuguese Catholic University will host the event “Braga creates value: education, business impact, and management” in Braga, an initiative that marks the launch of the new Bachelor's Degree in Applied Management. The meeting will bring together institutional, academic, and business leaders to reflect on the strategic role of education and management in wealth creation and sustainable development in the region. Confirmed attendees include Ricardo Costa (Chairman of the Bernardo da Costa Group), José Teixeira (Chairman of the Board of Directors of the DST Group), Pedro Barros Oliveira (CEO of the BMcar Group), Varico Pereira (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hotéis do Bom Jesus), and José Queirós de Almeida (CEO of Greenvolt Comunidades).
For the Vice-Chancellor of the Portuguese Catholic University, Paulo Dias, “the launch of the Bachelor's Degree in Applied Management in Braga represents a strategic step in strengthening the Portuguese Catholic University's mission to train leaders with strong ties to society and the business community,” adding that “Braga is now a hub of innovation and growth, and we want to actively contribute to the development of this ecosystem by training professionals capable of generating impact and creating value.”
Bruno Nobre, director of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences (FFCS), points out that “this new degree reflects the Faculty's commitment to providing excellent education, aligned with the real needs of organizations and the region, preparing students with solid skills and a practical view of management, capable of contributing significantly to economic and social development.”
The first panel, dedicated to the theme “Braga: a vibrant ecosystem for wealth creation,” will feature representatives from the main institutions that drive economic development in the region, namely the Braga City Council, InvestBraga, the Braga Business Association, and AEMinho. This will be an opportunity to analyze the factors that position Braga as one of the most dynamic hubs for innovation, entrepreneurship, and value creation in Portugal.
The new Bachelor's Degree in Applied Management, a practice-oriented program aligned with the real needs of companies, will be presented by João Pinto (director of Católica Porto Business School) and Ana Salazar (coordinator of the new Bachelor's Degree in Applied Management).
The panel “The quality of management and its impact on the business fabric of Braga” will bring together leaders from leading organizations, including the Bernardo da Costa Group, the DST Group, the BMcar Group, Hotéis do Bom Jesus, and Greenvolt Comunidades, moderated by Alberto Castro from Católica Porto Business School. The discussion will focus on the importance of management quality as a determining factor for competitiveness, innovation, and sustainable growth in companies.
