“In Splendore Lucis Vestrae “
The Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences has a Christian philosophical and humanistic tradition that is deeply rooted in its identity. The search for truth, informed critical reflection, dialogue with culture and science, dialogue between faith and reason, the defense and development of the human person in all its aspects, from conception to death, and attention to ecology are some of the hallmarks of its teaching and research.
As defined in the UCP Statutes, the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences seeks to be very attentive to the major contemporary problems and challenges facing humanity, attempting, through critical and demanding research, in the context of a culture of and for truth, and a personalist pedagogy, to find ways, in synergy with civil society, the business world, and the Church, that lead to the construction of an increasingly just and inclusive society.
Linked to the mission of the Society of Jesus since its foundation, the FFCS has partnerships that reinforce its mission, notably the Jesuit networks that include more than 300 universities and international higher education institutions of the Society of Jesus. Among these are:
- Kircher Network, a network of Jesuit universities with 30 centers in Europe and the Middle East.
- IAJU, International Association of Jesuit Universities, which includes more than 200 Jesuit universities on five continents.
- UNIJES, Network of Jesuit Universities of the Province of Spain.
