Católica Braga Hosts the Opening Session of the 2025–2026 Doctoral Program in Philosophy

Tuesday, April 21, 2026 - 17:19
The Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences at the Portuguese Catholic University in Braga will host the opening session of the 2025–2026 academic year of the Doctoral Program in Philosophy on April 24.

The program begins at 2:30 p.m. with a welcome session.

Next will be a session introducing the faculty members in the Philosophy department, during which each professor will share with the doctoral students their areas of teaching, research interests, and major publications. The purpose of this information-sharing session is to help both professors and doctoral students become familiar with each other’s academic interests, thereby facilitating better coordination when selecting research topics, providing tutorial support, and supervising theses.

The afternoon will also include a tour of the college facilities and a social gathering for faculty and students.

Starting at 5:00 p.m., the thematic session “Research Pathways and Narratives of Perseverance in the Doctoral Program in Philosophy” will take place, featuring presentations by researchers at different stages of their academic careers. Its aim is to promote reflection and discussion regarding the challenges and demands of the PhD in Philosophy, from the admission phase, through the coursework phase, the research phase, and the drafting and writing phases, up to the culminating moment of the thesis defense in public examinations.

The session ends at 6:00 p.m.
