Ricardo Peixoto earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Higher Institute of Applied Psychology in 2006; he completed a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, in 2008; completed a Master’s degree in Psychology, specializing in Family Psychology, from the Portuguese Catholic University in 2012; and completed a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Porto in 2015.
He began his research in the field of family relationships, specifically focusing on couple relationships and the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren. After completing his doctorate, he shifted his research focus to psychosocial risks, specifically in the area of burnout, and is currently exploring issues related to digital burnout. He has also conducted research on the Work-Based Learning methodology through his involvement in the project to implement this methodology at the Portuguese Catholic University. Through the application of this methodology to the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren, he maintains a connection to this topic. He is the author of the book *Grandparents and Grandchildren*, published in 2025 by the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation.
