She has a degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the School of Psychology at the University of Minho. She has a PhD in Applied Psychology from the School of Psychology at the University of Minho, with a thesis focused on maternal depression in the pre- and post-partum period and its association with the baby's sleep problems. She is also a specialist in Clinical and Health Psychology by the Portuguese Psychologists' Association.

In terms of research, she has developed several scientific papers and publications in the field of perinatal mental health, with a special focus on infant sleep problems. Her current research interests include: childhood sleep problems; self-regulation; developmental psychopathology; maternal mental health.
