The Portuguese Catholic University - Braga, with the aim of marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, joined the awareness campaign organised by the Alternative and Response Women's Union (UMAR), whose motto is: ‘Mourning and fighting for women victims of gender violence’.
This support took the form of black banners and a plaque with the campaign slogan being placed on the building of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the UCP - Braga, symbolising mourning for the victims and a continued commitment to promoting a culture of respect, equality and social justice.
The 25th of November was established by the UN in 1999 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which aims to draw attention to the various forms of physical, psychological, sexual and social violence that continue to affect women around the world. It is still one of the most persistent and widespread human rights violations globally.
Católica Braga thus reinforces its commitment to defending human rights and building a safe, inclusive and egalitarian environment.
