As part of the conference cycle "Getting to know Braga, through its institutions, the illustrious people of Braga and their heritage", the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library promotes, on October 26th, at 6pm, a conference in honor of Professor Doutor Padre Júlio Frigate.
With free entry, that session will feature interventions by Professor José Gama - From Truth to Wisdom; Professor Maria da Conceição Azevedo - Death in the thoughts of Father Júlio Fragata; and Doctor Maria Teresa da Fonseca Fragata - Júlio Fragata - a lesson in Science and Life.
Júlio Moreira Fragata (1920 - 1985) joined the Society of Jesus in 1937 and graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Braga, having then taught Greek and mathematics in the Humanities Course at Escola Costa Guimarães, from 1945 to 1947. He studied theology at the University from Innsbruck (1951) and, in 1954, he obtained his doctorate at the Gregorian University of Rome.
From that date until his death, his cultural activity developed as a professor of History of Modern and Contemporary Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy of Braga at UCP. For a few years, after 1965, he was Regent of the Chair of History of Modern Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto.
