UCP Braga's Bachelor's Degree in Social Work reinforces support for employability

At the seminar ‘Challenges and learning in the context of internships’, the Bachelor's Degree in Social Work at UCP Braga presented the initial results of a survey of alumni from the last six years, launched to map the professional paths of graduates.

The preliminary data reveal very positive indicators: 4 out of 5 alumni are employed, 92% work directly in the field of Social Work, and the majority entered the labour market within six months of completing their course.

The coordination team called on all graduates from the last six years to participate in the professional update questionnaire, reinforcing the need to expand the sample.

The course coordinators also pointed out that for several years they have been promoting initiatives to support employability — such as mock interviews, CV monitoring and regular dissemination of job opportunities — and that they are now reinforcing this strategy with new measures, including a private alumni group for disseminating job offers, biannual mentoring and greater coordination with employers.

‘We don't just want to train good professionals; we want to accompany them as they enter the job market and maintain a lively Social Work network,’ emphasised professors Catarina Vieira da Silva and Jorge Barbosa.

With these actions, which consolidate existing practices and introduce new dynamics, the course reinforces its commitment to students and alumni, promoting solid, fast-track career paths that are aligned with the current needs of society.

If you are a Social Work alumnus of UCP, you can participate in the study by answering the questionnaire.
