As part of the United Nations Day celebrations, students from the Bachelor's Degree in Social Work visited the United Nations University – UNU-EGOV, in Guimarães.

During the welcome session, Elisabete Simões, Head of Administration, presented the mission and global impact of UNU-EGOV. This was followed by a speech by Viktorija Jordanoska, from Human Resources, who inspired students to ‘dream big’ and explore international careers in the United Nations system. She also highlighted the values, opportunities and responsibilities of working in a global organisation.

The morning ended with a presentation by Bushra Ebadi, a researcher, who addressed the topic of Digital Rights and the challenges young people face in the online space, culminating in an interactive activity that encouraged reflection on personal digital experiences.

This initiative provided future social service professionals with a concrete vision of career and research opportunities in an international context, as well as a current debate on the new social challenges of the digital world.

The celebration of United Nations Day recalls the universal mission of promoting peace, social justice and human rights — values that are at the heart of social workers' intervention and ethical commitment.
