A group of students attending photojournalism classes as part of their Communication Sciences degree at the Portuguese Catholic University in Braga visited the Diário do Minho Group yesterday, namely the newspaper's newsroom, Minha magazine, the DMTV studios and the workshops.

According to Professor Luísa Magalhães, these are second-year students who chose the photojournalism option in the first semester and who ‘have an interesting curiosity about making the connection between image and text, especially in the journalistic context.’ When asked why they chose Diário do Minho for this visit, the teacher recalled that the Portuguese Catholic University in Braga has had a close relationship with the newspaper for a long time, which has resulted in various initiatives, such as professional internships. Another example of this relationship is the Minha magazine. "When Minha magazine was launched, I immediately created a project to establish a direct link between the photojournalism course and the magazine, an initiative that is unique in the country. It is a unique case
of direct connection between the university and journalistic production at national level," she said. Even before this connection, she pointed out, there was a first relationship with an initiative called ‘Laboratory,’ which ran for more than five years. ‘It was a Saturday outing, every two weeks, with photojournalism students,’ she explained.

Luísa Magalhães has no doubt about the importance of providing her students with visits such as the one that took place yesterday. ‘I understand that creating opportunities to share experiences, taking students out into the field, putting them in direct contact with professionals and real-life professional situations, connecting them to the world of work through a preparatory experience, is extremely valuable because it gives them an objective perspective on various difficulties,’ the teacher pointed out.
