On July 27, starting at 3 p.m., Azylo de S. José (IPSS), in partnership with the Master's Degree in Applied Social Gerontology at the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) in Braga, will promote an intergenerational meeting between elderly people and their respective family members (grandparents and grandchildren) to celebrate the Fourth World Day of Grandparents and Older People.
Under the motto “Do not forsake me in old age” (Ps 71:9), there will be a round table to reflect on the Pope's message for this IV edition, made up of Father José Manuel M. Lopes (Director of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences (FFCS) of UCP - Braga), Professor Ricardo Peixoto (Professor at the FFCS of UCP - Braga) and Sister Eliete Nádia Feliciano, a nun from the Congregation of the Franciscan Hospitaller Sisters of the Immaculate Conception.
From different perspectives, we aim to promote greater proximity between generations (grandparents and grandchildren) to combat loneliness, valuing older people in the family and in the community.
