The Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University in Braga is offering eight incentive scholarships for the next edition of the Master's Degree in Digital Communication, which begins in the 2025/2026 academic year, the institution announced on Thursday.

Applications for the third phase are open from 1 to 13 October, and it is still possible for new students to enrol on the course.

The scholarships available are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and guarantee a reduction of €1,250 in the total tuition fees, being awarded based on academic merit and motivation criteria.

According to a statement from the Faculty, in a context of technological acceleration and structural change in media ecosystems, ‘the Master's Degree in Digital Communication at Católica Braga seeks to respond to the new challenges of digital communication, offering multidisciplinary training that combines critical thinking, digital literacy, creativity and practical skills’.

From the evolution of Web 2.0 to the emerging logic of Web 5.0, the digital environment has radically transformed the way individuals, organisations and communities produce, share and interpret content, which is why ‘the programme focuses on a cross-cutting approach to digital communication, enabling students to work in the fields of media, creative industries, education, advertising, digital journalism and interactive content production’.

CURRICULUM

The curriculum is spread over two academic years. In the first year, students attend courses such as digital sociology, social networks, creative industries, transmedia narratives, digital marketing, web design, and research methodologies. In the second year, they can choose between three paths: a professional internship in the field of digital communication, lasting between four and six months; a scientific dissertation, focused on applied or theoretical research; or the development of an innovative project, in partnership with external entities and with the support of professionals in the sector.

The master's degree is aimed at both graduates in Communication Sciences, Multimedia or related areas, and professionals with proven experience in the digital sector who wish to update or deepen their skills.

The programme prepares students for careers in contexts as diverse as digital media, communication agencies, marketing and advertising, the creative industry, digital journalism, interactive design, content production, communication consulting, cultural projects and educational contexts.
