Bom Jesus has been a UNESCO heritage site for four years

The event is marked with a colloquium on 'World Heritage and Peace' on the 7th of this month. Includes a message from António Guterres.

Between the 5th and 8th of July, the Confraternity of Bom Jesus do Monte marks the fourth anniversary of the inscription of Bom Jesus on the UNESCO World Heritage List and the eighth anniversary of its elevation to Minor Basilica.
The fourth anniversary of UNESCO registration is celebrated on the 7th, with the bells ringing in a festive tone from midday. At 2.30 pm, the Hotel do Parque hosts the colloquium 'World Heritage and Peace'.

The meeting is held in partnership with the World Heritage Network of Portugal and the UNESCO National Commission and is attended by Ambassador José Filipe Cabral, President of the UNESCO National Commission. At 5.30 pm, the signing of protocols between the Brotherhood of Bom Jesus do Monte and the University of Minho and the Catholic University of Portugal are scheduled. The closing session is chaired by the Archbishop Primate of Braga, D. José Cordeiro, and includes a message from the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres.

The commemoration of the eighth anniversary of the elevation of Bom Jesus to the Minor Basilica is scheduled for 5 pm on the 5th, with the celebration of a Eucharist.
The celebrations end on the 8th, at 9.30 pm, with the closing concert, on the stairs of Bom Jesus, by the Academic Choir of the University of Minho.
