UCP-Braga lecturer joins ReToy project team; education partnerships for responsible toy design futures

Luísa Magalhães, Lecturer at the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) - Braga and Researcher at the Center for Philosophical and Humanistic Studies (CEFH), was part of the team proposing the ReToy project; education partnerships for responsible toy design futures.

This is an application under the ERASMUS + program that is the result of the association of an international group of researchers, led by Professor Jesper Falck Leegard from Designskolen Kolding, Denmark. This group includes professors Mathieu Gielen and Deger Ozkaramanli (Technische Universiteit Delft), from the Netherlands, Nicole Biankin, Serenella Besio and Elisabetta Prina (Universitá Degli Studi di Bergamo), Italy, Lieselotte Van Leeuwen and Johnny Friberg (Goeteborg Universiteit), Sweden, Secil Ugur Yavuz and Michaela Honauer (Libera Università di Bolzano), Italy.

The project presented is a research opportunity aimed at inclusive education issues related to the design and construction of toys focused on the development of sustainable strategies for learning in the context of play.

Since August 2023, Luísa Magalhães has been a board member and has been elected secretary and editor-in-chief of ITRA - International Toy Research Association. She has been a member of this association since 2005 and in 2018 co-edited the book Toys and Communication (Palgrave / Springer), with chapters taken from the 7th ITRA congress, which she chaired at UCP Braga in 2014.
