On July 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) in Braga, in the CEFH room at the School of Philosophy and Social Sciences, will host an Open Day dedicated to the Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. The initiative aims to introduce the program’s curriculum, giving prospective students a glimpse into the academic, practical, and institutional experience at the Braga Campus, as well as the many opportunities for professional practice and employment associated with Social Work.

The program begins at 10:00 a.m. in Room 1.2 with a welcome reception. At 10:15 a.m., participants will have the opportunity to learn more about what Social Work is, its mission, its values, and the profession’s main areas of practice. This session will highlight concrete examples of the role of social workers in addressing poverty, social vulnerability, and inequalities.

At 10:45 a.m., the Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Católica Braga will be presented, with a focus on the new curriculum, teaching methodologies, projects, supervised internships, and the scholarships and financial aid available to students. This will be followed by a coffee break at 11:10 a.m.

The morning continues at 11:30 a.m. with the activity “A Day in the Life of a Social Work Student,” through which participants will learn about the experience of those who are immersed in the program, from classes and projects to internships, academic life, participation in activities, and the role of the SerSocial Student Council.

At 12:00 PM, the session “Social Work in the Field: Meeting Our Partners” will take place, offering an opportunity to meet with partner internship institutions and social workers. This session will allow participants to engage with different intervention contexts, learn about concrete day-to-day experiences in the profession, and better understand career opportunities in the field.

The event is scheduled to conclude at 1:00 p.m.
