On May 23, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Catholic University of Braga will host an Open Day for the Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Data Science (LCDA) at the Data Science Laboratory III, with the aim of providing participants with a practical and immersive experience in the world of data science.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of the program, its curriculum, and the many career opportunities associated with one of the fastest-growing fields with the greatest impact on today’s society.
The program will begin with a welcome session, followed by a short lecture on the topic “Data Science and Society,” during which participants will gain insight into how data influences decision-making, organizations, and contemporary daily life.
The morning will also include a social gathering with light refreshments and an information session covering topics such as the curriculum, applications, scholarships, and career opportunities.
The Open Day will also feature a practical and interactive component through the hands-on activity “Would You Have Survived the Titanic Sinking?”, challenging participants to explore real-world data and understand how data science can help predict behavior and inform decision-making.
This will be a unique opportunity for high school students and anyone else interested to get a firsthand look at the Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Data Science, meet with faculty and students, and discover the transformative potential of this field.
