On the 7th of July, between 2.30 pm and 9.30 pm, the Colloquium "World Heritage and Peace" will take place at the Hotel do Parque located in Bom Jesus do Monte in Braga.
The opening session will be facilitated by the President of the Confraria do Bom Jesus do Monte, Cónego Mário Martins and by the President of the National Commission of Unesco, José Filipe Moraes Cabral.
The first panel will feature Maria Conceição Lopes (University of Coimbra), who will address "World Heritage in times of crisis/conflict: how to safeguard it". Next, Ana Paula Amendoreira (Vice-President of ICOMOS) will reflect on the "Vision of ICOMOS on World Heritage and Peace" and Miguel Bandeira (President of the Bracara Augusta Foundation) on the theme "For Bom Jesus de Braga, the love of peace united for the world".
Before signing the Protocols, Rui Vieira de Castro (Rector of the University of Minho) and João Duque (President of the Catholic University) will present the book "Bom Jesus do Monte" (2nd edition) by the respective author, José Carlos Peixoto.
The closing session will be led by António Gutterres (UN Secretary General), Cónego Mário Martins (President of the Confraria do Bom Jesus do Monte), José Filipe Moraes Cabral (President of the Unesco National Commission), Ricardo Rio (President of the of Braga) and D. José Cordeiro (Metropolitan Archbishop of Braga and Primate of Spain).
The event will culminate with a musical moment provided by the Cupertinos vocal group at the Basilica of Bom Jesus.
