The session will include speeches by Carlos Veiga (retired Professor from the Department of Sociology - UMinho), Ana Paula Marques (Professor from the Department of Sociology - UMinho) and Ricardo Rio (Mayor of Braga).

Synopsis

This book investigates the complex relationship between youth and work, with an emphasis on the young people of Braga. Through a historical analysis, it shows how work has evolved from a devalued activity to a central element in society. In the current context of job insecurity, it explores how young people perceive work in relation to education, leisure and consumption. Using data from the Youth Survey of the Youth Employment Observatory of the Municipality of Braga, the book analyses not only employment conditions, but also young people's attitudes and values. Structured in three parts, this book offers a reflection on the challenges and aspirations of contemporary youth and the future of work.
