On March 27, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., the public defense of the doctoral dissertation in Philosophy by candidate Ricardo Alexandre Barroso Batista will take place in the P. António Freire, SJ, Lecture Hall at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Catholic University of Braga.

The candidate will present a dissertation titled “The Principle of Sufficient Reason as a Point of Intersection between the Metaphysics of Foundation and Cosmological Arguments”.

By delegation of the Rector of the Catholic University, Professor Isabel Capeloa Gil, Ph.D., the examinations will be presided over by the Vice-Rector, Professor José Manuel Pereira, Ph.D.

The examination will be conducted by Professors Mafalda Faria Branc, Retired Associate Professor with Aggregation from the Faculty of Letters at the University of Lisbon, and Marta Maria Anjos Galego de Mendonça, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the New University of Lisbon.

The jury also includes Professors José Francisco Meirinhos, Full Professor at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto; José Maria da Silva Rosa, Full Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Beira Interior; José Rui da Costa Pinto, Retired Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University; Álvaro Manuel Rodrigues Balsas, Assistant Professor at the same faculty; and Artur Ilharco Galvão, Visiting Assistant Professor at the same institution.

The session is open to the public.
