The Institute's mission is to produce, develop and disseminate knowledge, in undergraduate and graduate teaching, scientific research and university extension actions, as well as service to the community, highlighting the technological and scientific dimensions in the context of Computer Science and Data Science.

The ICCD aims to: 

• Develop, in an inter-transdisciplinary epistemological framework, collaborative methodologies that promote the construction of the scientific areas of Computer Science and Data Science.
• Contribute to the knowledge and promotion of multidisciplinary research projects in the areas of Computing and Applied Data Science.
• Produce knowledge that, in its application, serves the scientific and technological development of industry and society in general 
• Establish strategic partnerships with units, inside and outside the Portuguese Catholic University, that develop work in scientific areas contiguous, complementary or transversal to the scientific areas of Computer Science and Data Science 
• Elaborate proposals for curricular enrichment, within the framework of the various organic units of the Portuguese Catholic University, and develop scientific activities that promote the development and dissemination of scientific areas inherent to Computer Science and Data Science.
