Language Resources and Technologies: corpora, lexicons and computational applications

  • Introduce basic concepts of Language Technology, Corpus Linguistics, Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing;
  • Familiarize students with the use of differentiated linguistic resources during their research work and give them elementary training in the processes of compiling these resources;
  • To be familiar with diversified programs and methodologies which enable different types of linguistic information to be extracted;
  • Explore Corpus Linguistics approaches to corpus construction, corpus information search, and corpus-based linguistic analysis;
  • Acquire basic knowledge about typology, contents and problems of dictionaries, as well as about lexicographical tools
  • Use tools for the automatic processing of texts;
  • Acquire basic knowledge in the area of language modeling (lexicon and grammar) for Natural Language Processing.
