- Review and deepen basic and intermediate knowledge of the grammatical structure of the English language;
- Explore the various aspects of vocabulary study, also in order to provide students with a wider knowledge of the language used by the media and the world of culture;
- Develop skills in the understanding and critical interpretation of gradually more complex texts related to journalistic and literary practice;
- Develop the technique of translating English texts and the Portuguese version;
- Develop the ability to produce original texts, both utilitarian and academic;

- Critically explore the social and cultural world of the English-speaking countries through its representation in the media and in literature;
- Explore English-speaking literature through the reading of excerpts from works with great impact on Western culture;
- Show the constant presence of references to Classical Antiquity in the media and in literary works.
