On 30 April, more than a hundred students took part in a vocational talk for 3rd year psychology students at the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences (FFCS) of the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) - Braga.
During the session, participants were able to clarify all their doubts about the UCP - Braga master's programmes in psychology with FFCS psychology degree lecturers Eleonora Costa, Ângela Azevedo and Anabela Rodrigues. In addition, Marta Alves, a member of the Northern Regional Delegation of the Order of Portuguese Psychologists' Continuing Professional Development, addressed fundamental issues for those preparing to work as psychologists, such as the introduction to the Order of Portuguese Psychologists (OPP) and the distinction between a psychology graduate and a psychologist.
There was also discussion about the fact that the practice of psychology is not watertight and that the junior year is not an obstacle, but rather a phase that supports professional practice. There was also room to reflect on responsibility and decision-making as professionals, as well as the resources and tools that the OPP makes available to both psychology students and newcomers to the labour market.
Given the success and the response, the organisation has expressed its intention to repeat the event next year, thus reinforcing its commitment to vocational guidance and support for future psychologists.
