Psychogerontology

This course aims to introduce students to the field of
psychogerontology, familiarise them with its scope of study, and enable them to master specific skills
for working with older adults. The objectives are as follows:

  • To understand the developmental stages throughout the life cycle and the normative changes in older adults;
  • To learn about the main pathologies associated with ageing, their characteristics, methods and assessment techniques;
  • To develop a critical stance towards myths related to ageing, basic communication skills for intervention with this population and the development of specific interventions for the promotion of active and successful ageing.
