Católica Braga was represented by Professor Cândido Oliveira Martins at the literary tour dedicated to Maria Ondina Braga, held on September 6 in Braga, which took participants on a journey through the places that shaped the life and work of the Braga-born writer.

The initiative was spearheaded by Cândido Oliveira Martins, a professor and researcher at the Center for Philosophical and Humanistic Studies (CEFH) at the Portuguese Catholic University, and by Isabel Cristina Mateus, a professor and researcher at the Center for Humanistic Studies at the University of Minho; both are scholars of the work of Maria Ondina Braga.

Starting at the bust of the writer in Praça da República, the route passed through several of the city’s iconic sites associated with her life and work, including Colégio D. Pedro V, the Congregados Church, Café A Brasileira, Casa dos Coimbras, Largo do Paço, the Braga Public Library, and the Braga Cathedral.

Throughout the tour, readings were held and references to the work of Maria Ondina Braga were shared, giving participants an opportunity to get to know the writer through the places in the city that shaped her personal and literary journey.

The initiative helped to highlight and promote Braga’s literary heritage, bringing the community closer to the work of one of Braga’s most prominent native writers while simultaneously strengthening the link between academic research and cultural promotion.
