Docente da Católica Braga participa em ópera sobre a vida e obra de António Feijó

Católica Braga was represented by Professor Cândido Oliveira Martins at the premiere of the opera inspired by the life and work of poet António Feijó, which took place on September 6 at the Theatro Circo in Braga as part of the cultural program for the Municipality of Braga’s White Night.

The opera was originally commissioned by the Municipality of Ponte de Lima as part of the celebrations marking the 900th anniversary of the town’s founding. The work was composed by Fernando Lapa, with a libretto by António Durães, and featured a cast of soloists and musicians with national and international careers.

Cândido Oliveira Martins, a professor at Católica Braga, participated in the project as a literary consultant, contributing to the work centered on the life and work of António Feijó and to the development of the opera’s literary dimension.

The performance at Theatro Circo was part of the Braga White Night program and gave the audience the opportunity to discover, through an operatic production, the life and work of one of the leading figures in Portuguese poetry of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The participation of the professor from Católica Braga in this project provided an opportunity to bridge the gap between research, academic knowledge, and artistic creation, reinforcing the University’s commitment to promoting Portugal’s literary and cultural heritage.
