The Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) in Braga is organising the final session of the 2024-2025 Literary Olympics on Saturday 5 July, a competition aimed at secondary school students in the northern region, focusing on the lives and works of three great names in Portuguese literature: Camilo Castelo Branco, Eça de Queirós and Luís de Camões.

The initiative, organised by teachers from the Portuguese Studies degree programme, aims to foster a taste for literature, deepen linguistic knowledge and reflect on the role of literature in personal development and Portuguese cultural identity.

In this first edition, 11th and 12th grade students from five secondary schools took part: Maximinos (Braga), Padre Benjamim Salgado (Joane), Alcaides de Faria (Barcelos), Martins Sarmento (Guimarães) and Monção Secondary School. The final round will take place in person at the Faculty's premises at 10.00 am, culminating in the awarding of diplomas and prizes at 11.00 am.
