Classes for the fifth edition of the Postgraduate Course in Communication in Professional Football began this Tuesday, a partnership between Liga Portugal Business School and the Catholic University of Braga.
The first part of the session focused on the presentation of this training, with the participation of the Director of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Catholic University of Braga, José Manuel Martins Lopes, as well as the Scientific Coordinator of the Postgraduate Course in Communication in Professional Football , Manuel Antunes da Cunha.
The second part was in charge of Cláudia Lopes, a journalist with experience on the main Portuguese television channels and who currently presents the program ‘O Futebol É Momento’, on SportTV. She began her intervention with a discussion of the topic ‘Why is communication needed in football?’. Taking into account the youth of the trainees, she began by remembering that in times past "a large part of the clubs' communication went through newspapers", currently witnessing the "abandonment of traditional channels". She highlighted that the clubs' communication platforms are numerous, although she admitted that football continues to be a very closed medium, with the cult of silence often in force.
Addressing the trainees directly, he highlighted the importance of those who work in the area of communication having the obligation to be bearers of good social foundations, transmitting fundamental values to people, also highlighting the importance of clubs associating themselves with important causes , with the need for communication to convey the message of positive football and unity.
For the journalist, with a vast career in the area of sports communication, «football must also learn from other sports», particularly in the way they treat communication, «making the product more spectacular».
She concluded by referring to the role of women in football, noting that stigmas still exist, particularly in sports commentary, with men continuing to have a privileged position in this field.
The Postgraduate Course in Communication in Professional Football continues to be a great success, returning in this fifth edition to a range of sessions with renowned speakers in Professional Football.
