The Portuguese Catholic University is currently implementing the DeepTech Transfer Competition, a program designed to foster innovative ideas with high market potential by supporting innovative projects in the fields of agri-food, health, and information technology.
This competition is part of the DeepTech Transfer (DTT) project, which focuses on the transfer of scientific and technological knowledge. Its primary objective is to enhance the economic value of R&D results by strengthening the processes and tools for knowledge transfer to the national and international business sector and by improving conditions for startups, by transforming innovative ideas and technologies generated by researchers, doctoral students, and master’s students.
The competition is open to science- and technology-based projects developed at universities in the North and Central regions of Portugal.
Up to 15 teams will be selected across the competition’s categories. The main benefits of the competition include access to specialized technical tools and resources supported by mentors, strategic connections to companies, investors, and strategic partners, and an “in-kind” prize worth €5,000 in specialized mentoring.
“Access to the tools provided by the team, accompanied by mentoring, represents a strategic opportunity for researchers, students, and entrepreneurs who wish to accelerate the transfer of the knowledge they have generated into solutions with a real impact on society,” says João Cortez, project coordinator.
The program will run from September 2026 to June 2027.
Applications are open until June 30, 2026.
