On 12 July, at 9.30am, the Psychology Degree Open Day will take place under the motto ‘Psychology at Católica Braga: A future with purpose’, at the Camões Building of the Portuguese Catholic University - Braga.
The event, aimed at 11th and 12th grade students and their parents, guardians and families, has the main objective of publicising the Psychology degree and the academic environment at Católica Braga, in order to help future candidates make more informed choices.
Participants will be welcomed at 9.30am, followed by the interactive ‘Decipher yourself!’ dynamic, which will promote self-knowledge and interaction between the young participants.
Some lecturers from the psychology course will give the students a mini-classroom experience. At the same time, there will be a parallel session aimed at parents and carers, with the theme ‘Educating for autonomy: Parents as allies in their children's academic development’, where strategies to support young people in this new cycle of their lives will be discussed.
Participants will also have the opportunity to see the university's facilities, from study spaces to socialising and student support.
Also during the morning, the ‘Course Spoiler’ round table will take place, a space for informal conversation with real testimonies from current students and alumni of the Psychology degree, with the following participants:
- ‘Is Psychology really what you expected?’ - a 2nd year student shares;
- ‘How I chose this university - and why I stayed’ - a 3rd year student's experience;
- ‘If I spoke to my “17-year-old self”...’ - a former student's reflection on his journey.
The closing dynamic, entitled ‘Tree of Dreams’, encourages participants to share their wishes and expectations for the future.
Registration is free but compulsory until 7 July. The number of participants is limited, with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 30 to 40.
