- Present a framework for understanding the history of Social Work as a social profession;
- Analyze the emergence and professionalization of social work in the context of the “Social Question,” identifying the main issues and historical factors;
- To learn about and compare the historical figures and pioneers of Social Work in the international context, analyzing their contributions to the development of the profession;
- Analyze the emergence and institutionalization of social work in Portugal, identifying its main stages of development and the historical, social, and political factors that influenced this process;
- Analyze the movements to reconceptualize social work in the 1960s and 1970s.
