parceria académica para valorizar legado de Santa Senhorinha

The Vieira do Minho City Council is strengthening its collaboration with the academic community as part of its efforts to promote the municipality’s historical and cultural heritage, with a particular focus on the figure of Santa Senhorinha.

The mayor, Filipe de Oliveira, recently met with Professor José Carlos Miranda of the Portuguese Catholic University to lay the groundwork for future joint cultural and scientific initiatives.

The meeting helped solidify a partnership centered on the scholar’s research on Santa Senhorinha, a figure of particular historical and religious significance to the region. To that end, a tribute initiative is already in the works, in which the researcher will actively participate, contributing his expertise and scholarly work.

During the meeting, the possibility of translating works related to this subject—specifically between Portuguese and Latin—was also discussed, with a view to promoting and disseminating this historical legacy to a wider audience and the academic community.

Through this collaboration, the municipality aims to further promote its cultural identity by forging partnerships with higher education institutions and experts, as part of a strategy designed to deepen understanding of and raise the profile of local heritage both nationally and internationally.
