João Duque, previous pro-rector of the Catholic University of Braga, argued yesterday that the ‘significant development of the region seems to call for an even greater extension of the training’ offered by this institution.

‘Without denying its original identity profile, it is considered important and appropriate to develop, in the region, specific applications of the major areas developed by the UCP since its inception, and which enhance the university's affirmation in areas of significant civil and even economic impact,’ he said, pointing to “applications in the areas of management, namely through the creation of an Executive Training Academy and the progressive creation of courses in the area”, and to the “creation of an Institute of Computing and Data Science”.
