On March 19, a seminar to commemorate World Social Work Day will be held in the St. Thomas Aquinas Auditorium of the Faculty of Theology.
This event, organized by the Degree in Social Work of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences (FFCS) of the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) - Braga, in collaboration with the Association of Social Work Professionals of the Northern Regional Delegation, aims to commemorate World Social Work Day, celebrated annually on the third Tuesday of March.
This year, the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) has chosen the motto "Buen Vivir - Sharing the future for transformative change" to highlight the importance of social workers adopting innovative, community-led approaches based on the wisdom of peoples and harmonious coexistence with nature.
World Social Work Day is an opportunity for social workers, social work students and the community in general to reflect on the relevance of the work of this professional area for society, especially in the search for and strengthening of fairer and more equitable public policies that promote respect for diversity, equality, social justice and the well-being of all citizens.
Since the future begins now and Social Work is an integral part of that future, the Seminar will be attended by very special guests and will address fundamental and challenging themes that are intended to inspire and encourage reflection.
Among them are:
- Human Rights, Sustainable Development and Buen Vivir;
- Beyond the conventional: exploring new frontiers in gerontological intervention;
- The contribution of art to social transformation;
- Building paths of protection: defending the rights of victims of domestic violence;
- Order of Social Workers: Statutes and Regulations.

- Participation in this event is free but subject to registration.
- Parking in the UCP - Braga parking lot, located on Rua de Camões, is free for those registered.
