TESTEd: “Teaching the Future- Re-Shaping the Present” organizes Final Project Conference

Monday, March 10, 2025 - 16:36

On April 3, the conference “Teaching the Future by Reshaping the Present” will be held in Bochum, Germany, to mark the end of the TESTEd Project - Towards a European Syllabus in Teacher Education, with the possibility of broadcasting and participating online.

This project, ERASMUS+ Teacher Academy, funded by the European Union (EU), has developed work on the theme of cross-curricular teaching and learning practices in teacher training.

The processes of social transformation throughout the EU make it increasingly important to prepare teachers for the cross-curricular, interdisciplinary issues they face in the classroom. This international consortium is based on the motto “Teaching the Future by Reshaping the Present” in order to find solutions to the challenges, with the five cross-cutting issues of the TESTEd project as its pillars:

  • Education for Sustainable Development (ESD);
  • Democratic Education and Active Citizenship;
  • Diversity and Gender Equality;
  • Multilingual and Cultural Diversity;
  • Digitalization of Learning Spaces.

In line with the theme, the team from the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) involved in the project will present a retrospective of the 3 years of development of the TESTEd Project, the study program and, in addition, the prospects for the present and future of schools and teacher training will be debated.

During the conference, Ulf-Daniel Ehlers, a lecturer at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg University in Germany, will be speaking on a panel entitled “Skills for the future - rethinking higher education for the future”.

This conference aims to provide a scientific audience as well as teachers, doctoral students, students and schools with access to a platform to present their research work, projects and teaching activities in the field of the five cross-cutting interdisciplinary topics mentioned.

The day before the conference, there will be a panel discussion on policy recommendations regarding the implementation of cross-cutting issues in initial teacher education and professional development.

Registration for the conference must be made by March 15.
