On 30 and 31 May, the spa town of Caldas das Taipas hosted the first edition of Thermos - Literary Encounters, an initiative that brought together renowned national and international authors. The initiative's partner organisations include the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) - Braga.
This cultural and literary activity takes place in the context of the thermal imagery, which is very important in various localities in the north of Portugal.
This cultural event aims to revive this tradition, revitalising the Termas das Taipas as a privileged meeting place for Portuguese writers. Among the highlights of the programme were the sessions ‘Conversas de Agulheta, de Vichy e de Vapor’, moderated by Cândido Oliveira Martins, professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences at UCP - Braga, which featured authors such as Luís Filipe Castro Mendes, Cláudia Lucas Chéu and Lauren Mendinueta.
The main aim of these two days was to create moments to reinforce Taipeians' sense of identity and belonging to their own land and culture, opening it up to others who join them to build moments.
