On 5 December, between 2.30pm and 4pm, a seminar on ‘Academic Times’ will take place in room D9 of the Camões Building.
This initiative will feature the special participation of Professor Emília Araújo, a lecturer in the Sociology Department of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho and a reference in the study of the sociology of time, culture and science. With a PhD in Sociology from the University of Minho, Professor Emília Araújo is also a member of the Portuguese Sociological Association and has held various positions as course director - Master's and PhD - in the Department of Sociology at the University of Minho.
The session will be facilitated by professors António Melo (coordinator of the Sophia 50+ University Extension Course) and Daniela Monteiro, who will moderate and comment on the speeches, promoting a dynamic and hopefully enriching dialogue.
The activity will also count on the collaboration of a group of Sophia students who, together with the promoters, will contribute to sharing their perspectives on the subject and suggestions for gaining a deeper understanding of the uses of time in academia and broadening the debate.
Admission is free and open to the entire academic community and civil society.
