On March 18, 2026, at 3:30 p.m., the Fr. Júlio Fragata SJ Library will host the presentation of the book “Critical Study of Leonardo Coimbra's Memorial Library: its collection and influence on the thinking and actions of the philosopher, educator, and politician”, written by Francisco José de Jesus Oliveira. The session is part of the Biblioteca ComVida program, an initiative that promotes meetings around books, research, and thought.
The event will be attended by the author, Francisco José de Jesus Oliveira, and the work will be presented by Carlos Bizarro Morais, professor at the Catholic University of Braga, who also wrote the book's preface.
The publication is the result of in-depth research on Leonardo Coimbra's Memorial Library, analyzing the collection and influence of the Portuguese philosopher, educator, and politician's readings on the development of his thinking and his intellectual and public actions. The study combines a technical and documentary dimension with a philosophical and interpretative approach.
As Carlos Bizarro Morais mentions in the preface to the work:
“From this painstaking work of organization, inventory, classification, annotation, transcription, and systematization of data, but also of reading, articulation, interpretation, and critical analysis, two structural aspects of the work stand out to the reader: an empirical and technical aspect specific to the sciences of documentation, and a theoretical and hermeneutic aspect of a philosophical nature.”
The Fr. Júlio Fragata SJ Library invites the entire academic community and interested members of the public to participate in this session, which provides an opportunity to learn more about an important study on the work and intellectual legacy of Leonardo Coimbra.
Free admission. We look forward to seeing you there.
