As part of the Master’s Program in Clinical and Health Psychology, within the course on Assessment and Intervention in Health Settings, an open lecture on the topic “Psychological First Aid and Stress Management” will be held on May 30 at 10:00 a.m in the Isidro Alves Auditorium.
The initiative will feature Dr. Sílvia Monteiro, a psychologist with 25 years of experience and a specialist in clinical and health psychology. She currently works at the GNR Clinical Center – Braga Territorial Command and is assigned to the Territorial Commands in the Northern region. As part of their duties, they serve on GNR medical teams, providing clinical care and psychological support to military personnel in operational settings, as well as responding to emergencies in a manner tailored to the specific demands of first responders.
The session aims to familiarize students with the realities of the professional world in high-pressure situations, focusing on strategies for immediate action in crisis situations. It will explore the principles of psychological first aid, as well as stress management techniques in critical situations.
This will be an opportunity to consolidate theoretical and practical knowledge, reflect on the challenges of health and emergency interventions, and gain a better understanding of the role psychologists play in promoting psychological well-being among populations exposed to high levels of occupational stress.
Participation in this open class provides a valuable opportunity for learning and sharing experiences, reinforcing academic and professional training in the field of Clinical and Health Psychology.
