Portuguese Phonology and Morphology

  • Understand the specificity of the object of phonology and morphology and their place in the framework of linguistics and language sciences;
     
  • Acquire and master the theoretical, conceptual, and methodological tools indispensable to the knowledge and critical approach of the phonological and morphological reality, fundamentally of European Portuguese;
     
  • Possess knowledge concerning the identification, description and classification of the sounds of the Portuguese language, as well as its intrinsic structural organization;
     
  • Understand the importance of phonological and morphological knowledge for the teaching-learning of languages in general and of Portuguese in particular;
     
  • Obtain the necessary phonological and morphological foundations in order to, at a later stage of the course, pursue the study of other linguistic dimensions; 
     
  • Research autonomously and critically, especially the phonological and morphological bibliography.
