Monday, January 20, 2025 - 10:57

On 16 January, Archbishop José Cordeiro, Primate of Braga and Spain, and Ricardo Rio, Mayor of Braga, had a conversation entitled ‘Changing Chairs’ in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University - Braga.

Ricardo Rio reflected on the limited prospects for professional career progression, not only in Braga but also in Portugal, which leads young people to seek opportunities in other countries. On the other hand, Mgr José Cordeiro said that he feels that Braga is ‘not only the city, but also the archdiocese as a geography of hope, which fills us with joy’.

In this meeting, moderated by Luís Santos, columnist and lecturer at the University of Minho, the mayor and the archbishop of Braga also reflected on the depth of human, social, political, ecological, religious and spiritual paths in the world, in Portugal and in the city of Braga.

At the end of the talk, there was a final debate, in which the audience had the opportunity to question Ricardo Rio and Archbishop José Cordeiro on the various topics they had discussed and which they would like to see reflected on in greater depth.
