This course aims to enable students to:
- Understand the basic concepts of sociology and the factors that contributed to its development as a science, through historical and theoretical analysis.
- Learn about the main contributions of the discipline’s founders, evaluating the relevance of each perspective.
- Distinguish between social problems and sociological problems, applying these concepts to the interpretation of real-world phenomena.
- Recognize the characteristics of the sociological approach, identifying research patterns and methods.
- Analyze the relationship between culture, society, and socialization, distinguishing their interrelationships and specific characteristics.
- Identify the types and mechanisms of social exclusion and the aspects of social production (reproduction and transformation).
- Apply the fundamental concepts of sociology to the critical analysis of specific social phenomena.
