On 9 April, the Portuguese Catholic University - Braga Campus hosted the ‘Being in Movement’ event, an initiative that brought the academic community together in an invitation to reconnect with their inner selves through dance, spirituality and conviviality. Promoted by the UCP4SUCCESS project, in collaboration with CAB, Cuidar*te and AEFFCS, the event offered moments of sharing, reflection and movement.

The afternoon began with a convivial lunch at CAB, strengthening the bonds of proximity between students and the academic community, bringing together more than 80 people. This was followed by the workshop ‘Rhythm and Essence’, led by Fr Paulo Duarte, sj, who guided the participants in a sharing that explored rhythm as a metaphor for inner life and the expression of being.

"Based on his vast experience in philosophy, theology and dance, Fr Paulo brought an inspiring perspective on the importance of the body and art on the path to self-knowledge and fulfilment. An opportunity to pause consciously and reconnect with the essential, recognising the role of artistic expression in well-being and academic success," says Daniela Teixeira, a member of the UCP4SUCCESS team.

The experience culminated in a Barre workshop at SOLO Dance Studio, where participants had the opportunity to do a low-impact functional workout that combines elements of Ballet, Yoga and Pilates. This session was a moment of physical and emotional well-being, promoting strength, balance and confidence.

As part of the UCP Culture initiative of the UCP4SUCCESS project, the ‘Being on the Move’ event sought to promote the integral development of UCP students by valuing the aesthetic, cultural and spiritual dimension of the academic experience.

This project is supported by the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) and the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
