The Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) - Braga is holding the traditional UCP - Braga Academic Day next Wednesday, February 26. The ceremony will take place between 9.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. With the aim of uniting the academic community in a day of celebration, it also intends to reward the best students and pay tribute to the educational institution's retired employees.
The session will take place in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences (FFCS) with a ceremony that will open with a performance by Líricas - Tuna Feminina da UCP - Braga, but will also include, as usual, an academic procession to the sound of the CRB Academic Choir.
The welcome will be given by Paulo Dias, pro-rector of UCP's Braga Campus, and the lecture, on the theme “New Digital Challenges: some reflections”, will be given by Margarida Mano, vice-rector of UCP.
Retired employees will then be honored and the best students awarded. The ceremony will be closed by Archbishop José Cordeiro, Primate of Braga and Spain, after a speech by a member of the UCP Rectoral Team.
The second panel of the morning will be marked by a series of workshops for students, promoted by the various UCP - Braga groups, namely Radio Sintoniza*te, Cuidar*te, the Psychology Students' Group, Mentoriza*- te, Voluntaria*te, the Community Service and the Braga Academic Centre, and with the support of the UCP4SUCCESS Project.
After the workshops, there will be a lunch organized by the Frateli Tutti group and the Students' Association of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences.
At 2.30pm, Onésimo Teotónio de Almeida, from Brown University (USA), will give a lecture in the Isidro Alves Auditorium on his latest book “Diálogos Lusitanos” (Lusitanian Dialogues).
