The main objective of this course unit is for students to reach the European Reference Framework for level A1. It aims to initiate students in the Spanish language, providing a basic competence to develop in everyday communicative situations.

According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, students will be able to:

• Recognize simple words and expressions in everyday use relating to themselves, their family and their contexts when spoken to clearly and slowly;
• Understand simple oral and written texts;
• Communicate in a simple way provided that the interlocutor is willing to repeat or say it in other words, at a slower pace, and help him/her formulate what he/she would like to say; ask and answer simple questions on familiar matters or in areas of immediate need
• Use simple expressions/phrases to describe where they live and people they know;
• Write simple, short texts (postcard, e-mail, cards).
