Friday, February 14, 2025 - 14:32

Universidade Católica Portuguesa reinforced its offer with ten new courses designed to qualify young people and adults attending university in non-CTEAM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) in preparation for technological changes. The courses range from analytics in social sciences to multimedia and content production, including the digital transformation of teaching and technologies to support management, among many others.

The initiative Training For Digital Transformation includes non-degree courses of varying duration, with the allocation of ECTS, which allow the development of digital skills in target groups, in partnership with companies in the consortium, which work in areas relevant to the planned training and which will have a decisive contribution to the development of the trainees training path. Training For Digital Transformation arises within the Portuguese Government initiative Impulso Mais Digital and the sub-measure Reforço das Competências Digitais.

António Andrade, coordinator of the Training for Digital Transformation program, states that “the job market is increasingly demanding, undergoing permanent, accelerated and profound change, intensifying the digitalization of the work environment and striving for innovation and digital transformation. This ContinuousNext phenomenon challenges Universidade Católica to develop diverse training proposals, in partnership with companies, that provide more immersive learning in professional contexts.”

10 courses to develop digital skills

The 10 new courses have different durations and operation modes (in-person, distance learning, or hybrid). The training will be coordinated by several Católica Colleges in Braga, Porto, and Lisbon.

The Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Braga offers courses in “Analytics for Social Sciences”, “ICT Teacher Training - Data Management and Computer Systems” and “ICT Teacher Training - Computer Teaching”. In Porto, Católica Porto Business School promotes “Digital Office for Jurists” and “Technologies for Digital Transformation”. The Faculty of Education and Psychology offers postgraduate courses in “Distance Learning” and the “Digital Transformation of Teaching” course. The Faculty of Human Sciences in Lisbon offers Postgraduate Degrees in “Communication and Production of Multimedia Content” and in “Communication and Digital Transformation” and training in “Transmedia and Digital Storytelling”.

Why Training for Digital Transformation? Antonio Andrade explains “Because we believe that people with training and experience, in areas less driven by technology, are very well equipped with skills and values to understand organizational contexts and cultures, being particularly capable of incorporating ethical and sustainability principles in an increasingly digital society.”

All training aims to requalify young people and adults by developing skills that reinforce preparation for technological changes that always require innovative approaches; opening up to new professions; reducing technological unemployment; digital and social inclusion; increasing employability, by allowing you to stand out with useful skills to an organization; the stimulation of innovation and creativity; the relevance of its contribution to the digital society by incorporating ethical and sustainability principles into the challenges presented.

Within the scope of the Impulso Mais Digital program and the Reforço das Competências Digitais, sponsored by the PRR, Scholarships will be awarded according to the rules and criteria contained in specific regulations.
