The President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), Isabel Capeloa Gil, took part in the 3rd edition of the Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions in China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in Macau on 30 and 31 October.
The forum, on the theme of The Portuguese Language in China - from Macau and the Greater Bay Area, was attended by more than 40 representatives of higher education institutions from Portuguese-speaking countries who met in Macau with the aim of promoting educational exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
With three sessions on the first day, this forum tackled new topics including the development of Chinese language teaching materials from the perspective of Sino-Portuguese cooperation, the development of speech and language technologies as a form of industrial and business cooperation between Macau, the Greater Bay Area, and Portuguese-speaking countries, and the development and use of machine translation tools in the teaching of Portuguese in China.
On the second day of the forum, the sessions on Artificial Intelligence and academic co-operation between higher education institutions in Macau, the Greater Bay Area and Portuguese-speaking countries, and Language Technologies and Sino-Lusophone co-operation preceded the cultural visits to Macau's higher education institutions.
The President of UCP and the Vice President, Isabel Vasconcelos, also had the opportunity to meet with the Portuguese community at the Lusitano Club in Hong Kong, continuing UCP's mission to establish partnerships with business and cultural communities abroad.
Also during this trip, the Rector of UCP met with the Rector of Assumption University, Rev. Brother Dr. Sirichai Fonseka,in Bangkok, Thailand.
