The Grand Prize for Novels and Novellas, promoted by the Portuguese Writers' Association (APE) and the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB) was awarded to Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida's work, Toda a ferida é uma beleza, with illustrations by Isabel Baraona.
The jury, coordinated by José Manuel de Vasconcelos from the APE, was made up of Carina Infante do Carmo (University of the Algarve), Carlos Mendes de Sousa (University of Minho), Cândido Oliveira Martins (Portuguese Catholic University - Braga), Cristina Robalo Cordeiro (University of Coimbra) and Francisco Topa (University of Porto).
The jury decided that the work ‘makes brevity the place of mystery and poetry: in the restraint of his writing lies the essential strangeness of a world that is at once naive and cruel, childlike and adult.’
