Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, was honoured with the Person of the Year award at the 9th edition of the AmCham Tributes Ceremony. See the pictures from the event, which celebrates the friendship between Portugal and the United States of America (USA), took place on 25 June at the Pestana Palace Hotel.
This edition of the ceremony was chaired by the Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, and by the US Ambassador to Portugal, Randi Charno Levine. The event was also be attended by the President of the Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency (AICEP) Ricardo Arroja, and brought together AmCham Portugal's partners, as well as many associates and friends, in a true celebration of relations between the two countries.
The AmCham Tributes recognise companies, institutions and personalities that contribute to the rapprochement and understanding between Portugal and the USA, with a special focus on strengthening economic and commercial relations. This year, the theme of the gala was "Celebrating Friendship and Embracing Freedom", and featured the collaboration of the Carlucci American International School of Lisbon (CAISL) and Music Theater Lisbon (MTL), among other special moments.
During the event, the four winning companies of the AmCham Tributes 2024 were also be revealed: Endiprev, Five9, ohnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine and Unbabel. The Person of the Year awards will be presented to Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of UCP, and surfer Garrett McNamara.
The jury was chaired by the President of AmCham Portugal, António Martins da Costa, and includes representatives from organisations such as the US Embassy in Portugal, AICEP, the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), the Portugal-US Friendship Association and Deloitte.
