DST Literature Grand Prize Gala takes place at Teatro Circo

On June 28th, the DST Literature Grand Prize Gala took place at the Teatro Circo in Braga. This year's prize was awarded to writer José Viale Moutinho, who won with the publication of his book of poetry "Desaparecimento Progressivo" (Progressive Disappearance), by Editora Exclamação.

The jury was made up of José Manuel Mendes, President of the Portuguese Writers' Association (APE); Lídia Jorge, writer; and Carlos Mendes de Sousa, lecturer at the University of Minho.

The event, which filled the theater, was attended by José Teixeira, CEO of the DST Group; Fernando Alexandre, Minister of Education; and Ricardo Rio, Mayor of Braga. The Portuguese Catholic University (UCP) - Braga, which has a cooperation protocol with DST, was also present, represented by Cândido Oliveira Martins, lecturer and Culture Coordinator.

The session ended with a concert by singer-songwriter Rita Vian.


José Viale Moutinho​

José Viale Moutinho is the author of a very extensive literary oeuvre, ranging from poetry to fiction and children's literature. He is also a devoted scholar of the life and work of Camilo Castelo Branco. Alongside his long career as a journalist, his literary work has been the subject of several awards over the years.
